A few girls in our neighborhood who are going to be sophomores in high school have put on a dance school for all of the little girls in our neighborhood the last three years. This summer's 'dance company' only ran for one week and was more of an intensive day camp. The girls had fun every day this week in our neighbor's 'studio,' the transformed garage of the director. They danced and danced and danced to prepare for this recital, described by the directors in the program as 'off the hook.'
The backyard was full of viewers ready and waiting for the performers to come onto the stage.
But first, for the viewing pleasure of parents, grandparents, friends, neighbors and siblings take a look at the photo board from this year's rehearsals.
The girls, ready to go on stage gathered together in the 'green room' garage for a pre-show pep talk.
The audience quiets and the emcee walks onto the stage and introduces the directors.
Then came the dancers. How lovely!
'Lord, help the mister who comes between me and my sister. . . '
'And Lord, help the sister, who comes between me and my man!'
Brooklin is a very versatile dancer. She can do beauty and grace as well as fun and a little attitude. Here she is, pretty in pink.
And check out those shades!
So FAAAABULOUS!
Jillian was born to be a lyrical dancer. She's so beautiful and elegant when she dances.
Lyrical is an interesting style because it doesn't take the technical skill of ballet but maintains the poise and grace. Jillian is wonderful also at expressing deep emotion in her movements. I was impressed!
After the show, they were showered with flowers for a job well done!
Congratulations, Ladies!
Can't wait for next year's show! Start practicing! :)
