i scream for ice cream

Saturday night with the 'adults' in our family. . . Tobin, Caitlin, Doug and Heather. . .Balboa Island.

Being from the Pacific Northwest, I'm used to ferries that can carry hundreds of people and have multiple decks for carrying cars.  The ferry to Balboa Island was not what I expected.  When it pulled into the loading zone, I chuckled a little thinking. . . surely this is not the ferry.  It was.  The driver, rather than a trained seaman, was probably 17.  We climbed on and took the five minute ride to the island.  It was definitely worth the dollar we paid to cross.

Apparently the big deal on the island are Balboa Bars.  They're ice cream bars dipped in chocolate and then rolled in toffee bits.  Can't be bad!  So we stopped for some.

It was a lot of fun to walk around and see all the beautiful houses.  Some people were having dinner parties and others were just watching the news.  It was just fun to be down by the beach and enjoy a little change in pace with the fam.  And enjoy ice cream.
