a little church shopping

This Sunday afternoon I went to Portland, OR.
I've only been to Portland one other time. . . besides the numerous times I've driven through.
It's a truly beautiful place.
The first time I went I attended a wedding celebration for my best friend Megan Knottingham.
It's still weird to me that she's married. But that night of celebration in Portland convinced me that they really are perfect for each other.
This weekend I went to check out a church.
Church planting is hard work!
It takes a lot out of you!
And since you can pretty much make your church into whatever you want, sometimes it's helpful to take a look at what other people are doing.
And it's always nice to take a break from your church and partake in a service somewhere else.
This week it was Portland's Door of Hope in the Hawthorne district.
It was a divine appointment.
The pastor, Josh White, spoke on worship.
Bottom line:: we are always worshiping. The question is, what are we worshiping?
Whether false or true, our worship just oozes from our hearts.
We must lift up Jesus. Worshiping him in spirit and in truth.
If he is lifted up, he will draw all men to himself.
Experiences like my experience at Door of Hope remind me that God will be glorified in my life.
They remind me that culture can be shaken and that we will make a dent in the kingdom of darkness.
