it must run in the family

Every time Nicki posts on her blog about all of her sewing and selling I feel so inspired to do something creative.  I have a friend, Amanda Evans (who is actually one of Callie's best friends also) who is a very talented artist and one of her most common mediums is textiles.  She makes the most creative stuff with fabric and a little thread on her sewing machine.  I often think that the key to living life with artsy style is to be handy with the sewing machine.  Well, one of my closest friends' birthday was this week.  I was so inspired that I decided she needed a new tote bag made by yours truly.  Tote bags are really in and they are extremely functional so I whipped out the old BabyLock and refreshed my memory by starting with filling the bobbin and off I went. . .

Oh, and the scrunchy was for old time sake.  When I used to make myself an article of clothing, I would always use the extra fabric to make an extra hair accent.  I thought Kindra, now being 21, would love to match her new bag with a great hair piece.  Happy Birthday, Kindra!

But that wasn't the end of my inspiration.  I've been needing a new wallet because my purse organization skills are lacking.  I couldn't find one anywhere for cheap enough that I really liked, so I decided to make one.  Here it is, complete with credit card storage and a coin pocket.

Last night a girl asked me how much I would charge to make her one of these wallets. . . is anyone else thinking what I'm thinking?  ETSY here I come!  Maybe. . . but at least we know now that it runs in the family.

Thanks for the inspiration Nicki!

I am loving that wallet!! Very impressive! (an ETSY shop is free...just .20 cents per listing!)

By hte way, that's how I got started with the whole apron thing: I made one for myself and people started asking for their own....

What a good feeling to know that I've inspired you!
